The St. Andrew's Society
Annual Scholarship
Criteria for Application:
• Scholarships will be in the nature of financial assistance to members who
want to improve their skills and/or knowledge in their particular area of
interest in Scottish culture, i.e., dancing, music, certification,
genealogy, history or language.
• Awards may only be used for skill and/or knowledge improvement. They may
not be used for competition fees.
• The Scholarship Committee will determine the amount of the awards to be
given.
• The awards will be gifts and no repayment will be expected.
• The Scholarship Committee must receive applications by March 15, 2008
• Award winners will be announced at the St. Andrew’s Society Annual
Meeting.
• The recipient must be a Society member in good standing, or in the case of
an applicant under age 18, at least one parent must be a member.
• Preference will be given to applications where other members of the St.
Andrew’s Society will also benefit from the skills or knowledge gained by
the recipient, i.e., award receiving a teaching certificate whereby they
will teach others.
• Awardees will be required to submit an article to the Society newsletter,
The Thistle Epistle, reporting their experiences and what they learned at
the school, workshop, or seminar that they attended.
• Awardees will be required to give a presentation at the first annual
meeting of the Society following the completion of the school, workshop or
seminar.
• Scholarship funds are only payable directly to the school for tuition
fees. They may not be used to defray personal expenses.
